The Twisted Unearthly Lessons in Darkness

Venture into the realm of the mysterious and macabre, with The Twisted Unearthly Lessons in Darkness, a heartwarming collection of supernatural and horror short stories that promise to both terrify and inspire.

From wolves in sheep’s clothing, to whispers in haunted halls, The Twisted Fates steers you to chilling and spellbinding landscapes. But, as the darkness envelops you, glimmers of redemption peek through. It is here, within this delicate balance, that the characters-and perhaps you dear readers, encounter revelations that challenge and uplift the spirit.

This collection is perfect for fans of The Twilight Zone or Cabinet of Horrors. It invites you to delve into a world where fear and wonder intertwine, and the supernatural is never far from the surface. So, if you dare, grab a warm blanket, and lose yourself in The Twisted Fates, but be warned… once you enter, there’s no turning back.

Review

I won’t lie the blurb got me by mentioning The Twilight Zone and Alters didn’t disappoint. This collection is, surprisingly, great. Now I don’t say that to be disrespectful. What I mean is often with collections or anthologies you find some stories are big hits and some are misses. This collection in my opinion is great. Each story offers something new. Some stories will create chills, some will make you think and some will do both.

The only things that I felt fell a bit short, as a female reader, was the representation of women being negative at times and some of the characters feeling a bit two dimensional and not really developing. Obviously in a short story you do  not have the space to develop that much but it would have been nice to see a bit more character development.Again this is personal opinion but it stuck out to me a bit to much making me lower my rating by one star. The other thing was in some places the writing felt a bit jarring or as if it had not been double checked. I was able to mostly ignore this but I feel that it could do with perhaps a little proof read to check some things don’t stick out too much.

All in all though I did enjoy this collection which offered several good ideas. I think perhaps with a little tweaking to the way female characters are and a little proofing this would be an easy five stars.

As always thank you to the author for the copy to review. My review is honest and truthful.
