Review
This is a solid 4 stars from me but I have rounded up to 5 because I think other merits outweigh the fact that I could tell who was the shadow. But I felt the twists and turns and general writing merited a higher rating. Lee’s novel is addictive and gives a very strong stalker vibe throughout including a bit of horror or at least chills throughout. The writing is wonderfully descriptive and hooks you right in. By the opening paragraph I was hooked and knew I wouldn’t be able to put it down. The characters are all well rounded and surprisingly likable (I find sometimes thrillers can leave some characters wanting but that was not the case here).
It’s hard to go into great detail without slightly or fully spoiling but I will say the tension builds that by the end you are on tenterhooks wondering what will happen. A definite must read for thriller fans who love a twisty plot and fantastic prose that pull you in.
About the Author
Allison Lee first started writing education and non-fiction books in 2006 based on her profession at the time in the Early Years.
Having always harboured a passion for writing a novel, she got her ideas for her debut book when she and her husband bought a remote cottage set in the heart of Snowdonia, where they escape for holidays and weekends, allowing Allison to indulge her passion for writing.
Allison and her husband have two sons and two beautiful granddaughters. They live on a small holding in Yorkshire with their four dogs and animals, including sheep, pigs, goats, donkeys, ponies and chickens.
Allison’s hobbies, besides caring for her beloved animals, are growing fruit and vegetables and supporting wildlife.
